Welcome to S.H.I.F.T.

S.H.I.F.T. develops leaders, promotes awareness and academic excellence, while providing a foundation to strengthen youth’s, regardless of financial means, competence in wealth, health, education and community service as a catalyst for personal growth.

We believe that all young men have the capability to attain success in their own right once given the proper direction, a clear understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and the support to achieve their goals. We strongly believe that how one views the world around him can either place limitations or see limitless possibilities. It is our goal to lay the foundation that will shift their mind set.

SHIFT was designed to cultivate minority young adults into successful adults by adopting a goal oriented philosophy that targets four keys development areas: wealth, health, education and community service.

The program provides a structured atmosphere that helps build a foundation of life skills and continuous support from adolescence to adulthood.

  • Dave Lacroix, rising sophomore at Dartmouth College, and will major in Bio-Medical Engineering and Economics

This program has given me many opportunities that I would not have otherwise had and as a result, I am immensely grateful to the organization. I worked closely with Frantz Jean-Baptiste throughout both high school and my eventual college transition to Dartmouth. In high school, Frantz would direct me to resources to help me prep for the ACT and SAT, encourage me to take advanced placement courses, apply to scholarships and internships, and prepare for the college process. Frantz helped me maximize my academic potential and I was able to excel academically. My very first college visit was Dartmouth College with Frantz in the fall of 2013. Once I was able to visit Dartmouth, we began to explore other universities and look at schools that would be the best fit for me. I wanted a school that offered me a liberal arts degree all the whilst allowing me the chance to explore the multiple engineering disciplines. We decided that Dartmouth was the perfect fit and from there, Frantz helped me craft my application. I was given advice on resumes, interviews, structuring my essays, and much more. With the knowledge bestowed upon me by Frantz and this program, I was awarded a scholarship to attend Dartmouth as well as many other honors such as being selected as a 2014 Hamilton Scholar, a 2015 Bank of America Student Leader, a 2015 Conscious World Scholar, and a 2015 Fred Schaufeld Scholar. With Frantz as my mentor, I was even able to write a book and publish it during my senior year of high school as well as have it in circulation at our community’s local library. Currently, I am at the Wharton School of Business interning at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics studying Health and Labor Economics. Without this program and Frantz, all of these opportunities that I have would have been very difficult to achieve. Ultimately, I am forever grateful for to my mentor Frantz and the program for giving me a chance to accomplish my dreams and excel.
